Another Yesterday

could still smell the rain the day we walked along the sand
the sky a hazy shade of greys and blues
can still hear her say the day was meant to be our last
the price too high to play the minstrel’s muse
we kissed goodbye and carried on our separate ways
now I search for answers in my sleep

wondering did she
take one more look at me
did she turn around or simply walk away
does she hold me in her heart
would she give me one more start
and tell me I should come back home to stay
or am I just another yesterday

does she ever catch herself remembering the good times
or has she locked them all away
will she come to see that we were good enough in good time
or is never here to stay

now I search for answers in my sleep

wondering did she
take one more look at me
did she turn around or simply walk away
does she hold me in her heart
would she give me one more start
and tell me I should come back home to stay

does she think of me and smile
does she laugh once in awhile
at all the crazy games we used to play
or am I just another yesterday
